My research explores how new computational methods can be used to study questions of legal and social scientific importance. I am particularly interested in the use of computational linguistics to study contract law and design. In addition, I frequently collaborate with other researchers to work on projects across a diverse group of subjects, including causal inference, algorithmic fairness and criminal justice. I typically write for general science journals (e.g. PNAS, Nature CS), peer-reviewed legal journals (e.g. JLEO, JLS), law reviews (e.g. Stanford Law Review, Chicago Law Review) and computer science proceedings (e.g. NeurIPS, EAAMO).
I am currently a Professor at Stanford Law School, as well as an Associate Director and Center Fellow at Stanford’s Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI).
